Towns and villages in St Austell and Newquay constituency

The new constituency of St Austell and Newquay covers the same area as that of Restormel Borough Council except that the ward of Lostwithiel (including Luxulyan) remains in the South East Cornwall constituency.

On the north coast, there is the village of Crantock, then the bustling tourist destination of Newquay much loved for its fantastic beaches and the surf capital of the country. Further up the coast are Watergate Bay, Mawgan Porth and Trenance. On the approach to Newquay, visitors by road pass through the village of Quintrell Downs. Inland from Mawgan Porth is the picturesque village of St Mawgan. Further inland is the old town of St Columb Major.

Just off the A30 that runs down the spine of Cornwall are the villages of Summercourt, Fraddon, Indian Queens and St Columb Road, all now thankfully by-passed by the dual carriageway.

In the middle of the constituency are what are known as the Clay Villages because of their long connection with the china clay mining industry. St Dennis, Whitemoor, Roche, Treviscoe, Nanpean, Foxhole, St Stephen, High Street, Lanjeth, Trewoon, Bugle, Stenalees, Penwithick, Trethurgy, Bowling Green, Carthew, Ruddlemoor have all long had strong links to the industry.

The constituency is home to the world famous Eden Project with its stunning biomes, home to exotic plants, a symbol of the fragile state of the planet's ecology, as well as being a magnificent tourist attraction.

Close to the south coast at the eastern end of the constituency are St Blazey, St Blazey Gate, Par, Twywardreath, Fowey, Golant. Closer to St Austell on the coast are Carlyon Bay and Charlestown, famous as a location for many historical films with its old harbour.

St Austell is the largest town in the constituency and home to the offices of Restormel Borough Council. Its town centre is currently in the process of regeneration with demolition taking place prior to a major rebuild of retail units and a new cinema.

South of St Austell are the coastal villages of Porthpean, Pentewan, Mevagissey, Gorran and Gorran Haven. To the west of the town are the villages of Polgooth, Sticker, Grampound, Coombe, St Ewe, Polmassick.
