St Austell & Newquay's new MP, Steve Gilbert, has secured a meeting with the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Richard Benyon to discuss what action the government will be taking to tackle high water bills in Cornwall.

Commenting, Steve Gilbert said:

"Cornwall still suffers from the unfair hand dealt to us by the Conservatives when they privatised the water industry. I welcome the minister's comments and commitment to finding a speedy resolution to this burden.

"I have written to the minister today to ask that meet as soon as possible to ensure speedy progress is made."
