5.00.00pm GMT Mon 22nd Dec 2008

Stephen Hoskin

Stephen Gilbert, the prospective Liberal Democrat MP for St Austell, who called for an inquiry into the events surrounding the death of Stephen Hoskin, commented on progress over the last year.

Stephen Gilbert said: "The fact that there is now a greater willingness to report potential abuse and better co-ordination and follow-up among the emergency services and agencies hopefully means that, in future, there will be earlier intervention which could help avoid a similar event happening again. The death of Stephen Hoskin was a tragic event that shocked the community, we must do all we can to learn from the failures."
