GILBERT TO SPEAK OUT IN INCINERATOR DEBATE12.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 17th Jul 2008
Stephen Gilbert will be speaking against the proposed incinerator in St Dennis when Restormel Borough Council debates the plans next week. The Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for St Austell & Newquay will tell local Councillors that "incineration is not the right option, that one-site is not the right solution, and that St Dennis is not the right place." Stephen Gilbert said: "Over the last year I have consistently said that I want to see the plans for the incinerator properly tested by a public inquiry and when the issue is debated by Restormel Borough Council I will be speaking against the proposals." "I am 31 now and so I will be over 60 when this contract ends. The world faces huge changes over that time. I simply don't believe that incineration is the right option for the long-term, that one-site is the right solution or that St Dennis is the right place. The plans are wrong, wrong, wrong."
