TREVIGLAS SIXTH FORM GRILL CANDIDATE

2.00.00pm GMT Mon 14th Jan 2008

Newquay Treviglas

Stephen Gilbert, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Newquay, was in the hot seat today as he was grilled by over 30 students from the sixth form of Newquay Treviglas.

The students, from the school's year 13 and aged from 17 to 19, grilled the would-be MP for an hour on topics that ranged from education to immigration and public sector pay.

Stephen said: "I've been the Parliamentary candidate for sixth months now but don't mind admitting that facing a room full of teenagers was the most nerve wracking experience I've had so far! It was great fun. The young men and women who were there certainly put me through my paces and were very clued-up on current issues."
